Abode Community Service Centre is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable populations by ensuring equitable access to essential social supports. We take a culturally inclusive and holistic approach to promoting physical and mental well-being through a variety of programs:
Programs:
-
Food Bank: We operate a weekly food bank to combat food insecurity.
The foodsupport.ca portal helps connect Humber River Black Creek residents (postal codes M3N, M9M, M9L, M3J, M3L) to food services offered by local organizations. -
Faaji for Seniors (In-Person Program): We offer programs to foster social connections, health, and well-being for older adults. Faaji includes healthy, nutritious light meals, take-home food bags, and workshops on topics like diabetes management, chronic pain, and foot care.
-
Youth Development: We provide after-school programs, leadership initiatives, and life skills training to support youth in their personal and professional growth.
Services:
-
Newcomer Services: We assist immigrants and refugees with settlement, employment, and community integration, helping them build a strong foundation in their new environment.
-
Mental Health & Well-Being: We offer support programs to address emotional and psychological needs, helping individuals maintain mental wellness.
-
Financial Empowerment: We host free tax clinics and financial literacy workshops to promote economic stability and help individuals improve their financial well-being.
